| "To leave the world better than you found it, sometimes you have to pick up other people's trash." — Bill Nye | | |
He Quit His Job to Start a Nonprofit to Pick up Trash Across the City Juan Eduardo Naula moved to Los Angeles for a job opportunity that turned out to be a scam. Obviously, he was disheartened. He began picking up trash from the streets, and found it therapeutic. Juan even built receptacles for the neighborhood. He took a new job, but soon quit in order to pick up trash, relying on donations and people to keep his operation going, while inspiring others to clean up their own streets. Juan’s social media following grew to nearly 50,000 followers, and some join him each week to literally pick up garbage across L.A. "Hopefully, we can have a thousand people start doing this. That would be awesome. We can make a club," Naula said. "I really love what I'm doing. I really love coming to the place that's really dirty and cleaning up and seeing the difference.” | Be The Change Take an active role in an initiative to beautify your neighborhood. | |
